TGRC
Request denied! Apparently they will not send seed to hobby breeders since they are overwhelmed with requests.

I used to know what was required on the application, but that was so many years ago Im sure it's changed in the meantime. And no, I wasn't the one requesting, but a couple of folks I know were doing so. Carolyn

Wasn't much of an application or info requested, simply a text box to list your request and then a text box for intended use. I do understand that they have to serve the academic and more serious breeding communities. Dilettantes such as myself are low priority.

Chris, it looks like they really got hit this year with requests (from the explanation on their site). You might consider trying again when things slow down. If you didn't the first time, explain a little more about the work you are doing and how you will use their accessions in your breeding work.(e.g. you are the only breeder doing micro dwarf crosses, etc.). Also, keep the number of varieties to just a few. I think they will send you seed if you keep at it. And, when they do send you seeds, report your results back to the curator.
I would also be interested in the experience and recommendations others have had recently with TGRC, maybe things have tightened up considerably in the last two years. (my last request was two years ago) Good luck, Steve Last edited by Heritage; April 16, 2013 at 01:25 AM. |
