Default What Tomato Varieties are You Bringing?

I am sure it isn't settled yet but I was wondering what folks may be bringing for the tasting? I will post my list but please don't hesitate to bring a variety just because I mentioned it! I may only have one tomato of some varieties and tasty variaties will go fast!

Also the varieties may have turned out better in your garden then in anyone elses.

Furthermore we will need lots of tomatoes for the BLT bar.

So heres my list

Definitely will bring:

1. Dr. Lyle
2. Earl’s Faux
3. Cherokee Purple (the ones I have now are small)
4. Black Cherry
5. Neve’s Azorean Red
6. Hungarian Giant
7. Isabella
8. Green Giant

Likely to bring:

1. Dr. Carolyn Pink
2. Cherokee Green
3. Lillian’s Yellow (This one just started producing)
4. Russian, Pink (This one is producing in fits and starts)
5. Red Current
6. Snow White

Small chance that I will bring:

1. Orange Strawberry
2. Lucky Cross (one may be ripe in time)
3. White Queen
4. Aunt Gertie's Gold

So what do the rest of you folks think will be ripe next week for the tasting?

Greg, as I mentioned to you earlier in my email, my tomato plants are suffering greatly from both the dry weather and early blight. The only variety I know that I will have for sure is Stupice. I will probably have Sungold, too, if I don't manage to use all the fruit in the pasta salad that I'm making. Everything else is up in the air.

I hope that somebody has some extra slicers that they can volunteer for my BLT bar - if not, I'll have to go to the neighborhood veggie stand to get some!

I'll let you know Thursday 8-24  Hard to tell what will be ready until then. Hoping to bring Mountaineer Mystery, Purple Dog Creek, Royal Hillbilly, Gregori's Altai, German Johnson and a few others. Time will tell.

Dunkel,

Definitely will be nice to try some of your WV heirlooms!

Cecilia,

My Earl's Faux and Dr. Lyle have been producing like mad, I am sure you won't need to go to a vegetable stand. Beside I'll bet some of the other people comming will bring a few tomatoes as well :-)

Default A lot of Russia and Poland and some hybrids too

I've got a lot of Eastern European heirlooms to bring. Steve and I will check the vines Friday morning and select the best of the best to bring down, so I can't give a definite list, but we've got many that are quite nice. I'll pack them into labeled baggies and then into a cooler for the trip down. I'm a bit concerned about them crushing during the trip so I'll have to figure out some sort of weight distribution thingie, but hopefully we'll all arrive in good shape.

I've been packing seeds right and left, so there will be lots to share.

Looks like 1884, Giant Belgium (not giant sized though), Gregori's Altai, Mountaineer Mystery, Purple Dog Creek, Yellow Cookie (WV Yellow Slicer), Hillbilly, Royal Hillbilly, Djena Lee's Golden Girl, Berkeley Tie Dye, and Cherries from not Black Mountain Pink. I wish that huge KBX fruit would have turned. I'd have something respectable to weigh! LOL

I was able to come up with a half dozen (kinda small) Prue's I'll bring tomorrow. I'll be anxious to hear comments about it as it's in my top 2 or 3 or 10 or something!
