Default Midwest Tomato Fest 2010

Hi everyone - here is the info for this year's fest -

Sunday, August 29, 2010 - 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Location: Picnic shelter at the NORTH end of the Children's Zoo
parking lot - roughtly 27th and B Streets - East side
Lincoln, Nebraska

While most of us in the immediate area just finally picking the first ripe ones, bring what you have to share, a palate cleanser and a chair and join us for a great time. We're still a fairly small group but growing.

Two public gardens are close by and beautiful as well as the Children's Zoo. And best of all, there is always a breeze moving through the shelter.

So old friends and new friends - come and join us. We usually sample about 75-85 varieties.

And if you've had a bad year, don't worry, we should have plenty to sample.

Let us know - Piegirl

We will be there. Hope we have some tomatoes left to bring. It will be nice to see all our old friends again and meet new friends. Thanks for what you do. See you the 29th.

Just a short week away - don't know what I will have other than Jet Stars and several cherry varieties. There is road construction - again - near the Zoo. I will bring pies for palate cleansers. Tomato vines have gone absolutely crazy in the last 3 weeks, some jet stars have 50 fruit per vine. Mark - are you coming - we haven't heard from you for awhile. Piegirl

I have this on my calendar and I'm staring at my tomatoes, trying to make something ripen by sheer force of will.

Meanwhile, I need to ask about palate cleansers. What is considered appropriate? Bread? Chocolate cake? Frogs? Also, how many servings should I plan for?

Cornflower - just about anything you wish to bring will be fine - except frogs- lol. Raw vegies work well, I am bringing pie and a plain salad. Look forward to meeting you-if nothing is ripe, don't worry about it - just come and join us. Piegirl
