Completely off topic, but if in the US the stereotype of Canadians is the use of the word 'eh?'

Nice day out, eh? Deliver the gosh darnoodley mail, eh?

What is/are the language stereotype(s) of the US as viewed from Canada?

Sorry to hear it, Tania. I guess if it had to happen it's better now than in the spring, though? Let us know when it's over! The US press tends to be very myopic, as though we don't share the continent with anyone else...

A Postal strike is never a good thing ....but methinks worse case scenario is we will be able to be ordering again before September and ..later in fall getting those
fabulous famous fantastic colourful "Multi stamped " envelopes from Tatiana's with possibly the new variety grow out seeds and offerings ...etc. The "new " available seeds make great Winter festival gifts ...or even Christmas stocking stuffers ..LOL

Yes! get ready for the winter...!

Postal service has in my opinion gone down everywhere - that's just my personal experience.
I don't want to start any 'the old days were better' lament - but I remember how in the 80's and even the 90's mail arrived promptly. I had lots of penpals and correspondence with people around the world, especially Europe.. and mail service was punctual and reliable... even from the East bloc countries.

These days... I think it's because people no longer send such high volume of letters due to the internet communication, postal workers have lost their touch and ... no longer know how to deliver mail in time ... And that applies to many countries. All this modernization.. for what?

Ah yes ... " Lament for a Nation " ....

Tatiana is correct in saying that most people should have their gardens in etc.

so one should be patient with the post office labour process.... and be thankful with what you now have .........and make sure your orders and procurements are ready for when the gates lift back up ....after the strike ......

I was going to peruse your seed selection, but it said the link was broken. Starting to culminate a collection for next year.

What is the post office on strike for? Do they need another month of vacation?? LOL

I just accessed Tania's site with no problem.

And when you go there and hit shortcuts and then search alphabetically everything comes up OK. Edited to add that when you hit shortcuts you'll see that there are several other ways than aphabetically to search for varieties,by country, by color, and on and on.

So maybe try it again?

Well folks it looks like the Canadian Post ...situation has devolved into
a "Lockout " Friday July 8th...........I usually get seeds from Tatiana's in 2 days here in Canada.

....but I just got some hard to find seeds from USA yesterday ....that were held up at Customs for 6 weeks ....That's when the Post office was running !

I am so glad gardens are planted and most seed procurement has happened
for the season .

I can't seem to get to the catalog either. The data base works great and I use it all the time. Although I like to browse the catalog with pictures and info.

Dear folks,

SO sorry, the seed catalog was taken offline because of the Canada Post issues. Now it is back up, as Canada Post postponed the lockout/strike by 30 days.

Maybe it would have been better if they had a strike now - if this gets pushed into the fall, it will be bad.

ANyway, the online seed shop is back up and you can order seeds now, if you wish.

Oh, by the way, we will be moving to a different place starting early September. Not sure how we can manage the seed orders during the move and while we'd be settling at the new place. The move will be slow, as we will need to build all the accommodations for all the birds before we can move them.

Having taken 6 months to move last year, I empathize. Good luck with your move!

It may be. I was doing my moving by myself. Kids and grandkids all live in other states.
