Will you be allowing it to grow or removing it?

Are the fused stems cause for concern? I hope not, I have several plants this year with fused stems and mega blooms.

I have had them in the past too. My plants did fine, so I don't see any cause for major concern unless you do not care for fused fruits.

Daniel Burson........... oh no...........

Jillian, you are saying that you have several plants doing this. One would not be a concern, but several of them....... I am wondering if they came in contact with any chemical sprays.

Hopefully they will outgrow it and be just fine.

Yes I have 3 out of 30 with the fused stem. They are DB, Big Cheef and Rebel Yell. They seem very healthy otherwise. I wondered if potato leaf were more prone to this? I have only sprayed with daconil.

That's a good question and one that I can not answer. You have three of what I consider to be, really good ones doing this. They should be fine though and grow right through it. I am wondering if they are planted close together or if there is some other common factor. When I had it happen to mine (and I can not recall the variety but it was not DB) I only had one plant that behaved like this at a time. I will be paying closer attention if and when it ever occurs again to see what leaf type the plant is.

Jillian, I forgot to ask. Would you please post your findings of your Daniel Burson plant in the thread titled "Daniel Burson 2016." I am trying to hear all of the reports of those people that are growing it this year. Your findings are important to me.

Coincident ?
My DB is also growing a fused flower.
I will keep it. It is just one and not going to affect what comes later.

Double fused flowers will result in just a boat shaped fruits . This is different from multiple fused ones which produce cat faced tomato.

What varieties are yours that are doing this? Are they all right next to one another or are there plants in between them that are normal? Do you have both potato leafed and regular leafed plants doing this? Was there any use of chemicals in the yard?

By the way, those are some great looking plants. I am jealous as mine are only a little over an inch tall right now.
