Default rose de berne flavor

This was one I looked forward to growing. Had a fake on last year. This year different vendor, etc. Healthy plant, pink fruited about 2/3 size of tennis ball? Not very tasty, almost sourish. These were the first two fruit and really bad, hot ugly outside. Will they improve? Piegirl

Will they improve?

You'll just have to decide yourself b'c I know some folks who love it and some who don't like it at all.

I'm in the "don't like it "camp as regards both Rose de Berne and Rose de Lucerne, also from Switzerland.

If I want a nice pink globe shaped variety of about that size that's blemish free with some very good taste I'll grow Eva Purple Ball or Redfield Beauty.

I got to try that variety at the SC tomato tasting last weekend. It wasn't bad, but the variety, Rose, is much better IMHO. I want to try Red Rose sometime. With it's parentage, it would almost have to be good.
