Nice to know I'm not alone, next year starting way earlier...I'll see how my crop holds over during the summer and if it produces well in the fall. If not, may do two crops. One start on Feb. 1 and pulled when the heat comes, the second Aug. 1 and left for the frost. Only dealing with around 12 plants so not a major effort there.

What luck! I'm growing Big Beef and Indian Stripe this year.

It's been a cool Spring/Summer until a couple of weeks ago, when the summer heat finally raised it's ugly head. Some, but not all, of my tomatoes are really suffering. Some of my peppers too. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 100's. First thing in the morning, I'm going to try and set up shade with burlap and bed sheets over my most sensitive ones, at least until the temps become more civil.

Up in PNW ( Seattle, WA), we are getting some heat too.

But not that bad. RH during the day is about 48%.
Highs forecast for the next 15 days are 88F to 95F . Average for this time of year is 70F.

Hmm. I can manage it. Just have to water more often.

It is good for my tomatoes and peppers. Most of them have set a lot already and they should grow them faster from now on.

We had 102° today with heat index of 112°. I didn't even want to go into the garden!

Early last week we had a heat index of 127 one day. It was really hot with my thermometer showing well over 100 and Weather Underground said it reached 107. This week has been very hot also but not quite reaching those extremes and we did get a half inch of rain on Monday night so it was a bit steamy yesterday but slightly cooler. It did save me having to water for a few days maybe.
