Using Great White myco and Excelurator together

Anyone see a reason why I cannot use both as a dip when I plant out tomorrow?

Hi Michael,

I was just pondering the same question yesterday, when I did the initial drench on the plants with Excelurator. I've decided (without any scientific basis) to wait a week between treatment with the Great White myco.

As the Excelurator is derived from Ammonium Nitrate and Potassium Hydroxide, I was concerned about how these compounds would interact with the Great White mycos and beneficial bacteria. Maybe we have a Chemist here at TV who can enlighten us on the subject.

Does the Excelurator have root hormones or other special ingredients to justify its price? It looks like it is intended for continuous use, aimed towards hydroponic growers. I guess it must work if people keep buying it. Why not do a trial comparison w/ and w/o? At those low rates your myco should be OK, but that's just a guess.

I'm wondering how it would compare to Pro-Tekt. http://www.dyna-gro.com/retaildownloads.htm Interesting that potassium hydroxide is corrosive and potassium silicate is a corrosion inhibitor.

On the bottle are instructions for hydro and soil use. The amount for soil use is 1.2 tsp per 5 gallons of water. Yesterday, I planted out 25 varieties, I plant each, and put 1.2 tsp in 5 gallons, along with the Great White-which was 2 tsp for the 5 gallons of water- and dipped the plants in the solution.

I am going to use the Excelurator every week for about 3 weeks.

i will try to post photos of my seedlings that i am trialing
roots excelurator and rapid start, so far there is no
difference in the growth or the health of the plants,
if the end results are the same i will use rapid start
only because it cost less money.??, regards.

Michael,

Just talked with Jim and his customers mix the two together with no adverse effect. He said the compounds in the Excelurator will not kill the bacteria in the Great White at all.

Thanks for posting the rates. I tried to find a label on google but the search was all clogged up with the weed forums. From what I have read, the main note I see again and again is the mycorrhizae are mainly killed off by high NPK (in general anything above 10-10-10, but that also depends on the rate used), especially phosphorus. I have some plant tone for bacteria, and I will be using bio organics endo mix powder mainly as a root dip/ dusting extensively on seeds and transplants.

My main fertilizer for seedlings is MSU 13-3-15 8Ca 2Mg + minors @ 1/4-1/2 tsp/gal (50-100 ppm N). I hope that will work.

Les, did you ever post on your results for the Excelurator vs Rapid Start vs. null trial? I have some of these products and would like to know their efficacy.

I did a little research and our cannabis friends have been testing the product with good results and it does seem more geared for hydroponic use. Some other posts indicate that the Fox Farms product Kongaroots is just as effetive and half the price.
A word of note. Ammonium Nitrate and Potassium Hydroxide, the two major players in Excelurator when mixed together will form Potassium nitrate.

Hmm. Well, I just used it again with some AminoTreatment (1tsp per 5 gal) in my raised bed garden. Most plants seem quite beefy and happy, but I do so much for them I never know what specifically is good, what's bad, and what just doesn't matter. I'm half through the Excelurator after a year and a half of use, so I might try the Fox Farm's offering next time to save a buck.
