I thought it was just me until I got around a bunch of tomato people.
I was eating them back in the 60's when I was a little kid. I was so poor I would pretend there was salami in them. Worth |

I think tomato, white bread, and mayo is a right of passage into becoming a tomato lover. Not a southern thing - it's worldwide.
I'm growing a heart tomato called, "Mayo's Delight" |

Maybe it came about during the depression? I've been eating them for over 50 years and sometimes put my homemade bread and butter pickles on too.

I've never had just a plain tomato sandwich, and I've been eatting them from the garden for the past 20 years or so?! I'll have to try this.. My favorite is just a little salt, standing over the sink looking at the garden lol . . That's the same thing I always did when I was a youngster, looking at my father working in the garden.. Good memories..

When I was a kid a German family moved in across the street and introduced me to white bread, tomato and mayo sandwiches. I was amazed at how good they were.

My favorite and I live in Ohio,it has to be dripping mayo from it.My wife thinks I'm crazy.I have 14 plants out this year and 5 types.Brandywine,Purple Cherokee,Black Krim,Early Girl and San Marzano.Have small green tomatos and loads of blooms. In a few weeks all I'll need is fresh bread and a jar of mayo.

All these years, I never tried it without also adding the turkey bacon and lettuce.( we dont eat mammals, but no judgement of those that do). I'll have to try it, but does it have to be white bread?

It's been bread, Miracle Whip, and one slice of tomato big enough to cover it all since I was old enough to remember it.
