Here is a good read on making pickles.
I like the deli pickles I make and eat them up pretty fast.
Only takes about a week or so in a jar.

The flavor is nothing you can get in a store bought vinegar pickle.

I have eight beautiful cucumber plants that are growing on tomato cages. I have tons and tons of blooms but it seems just a few cumcumbers. Am I doing something wrong?

Are they female flowers? If not, that's the problem. If you want serious production you need to step up to some hybrids which have high number of female flowers (and I think also parthenocarpic).

I soak mine in ice water for an hour, they have to be caned the same day as picked.

The ice water is a great tool, will restore the crunch.
If you pick, wash,dry, and cover in plastic wrap, they can be refrigerated for 1.5 weeks, and will stay crunchy until you can get to them to can.
