Good news on Cherokee Green and Cherokee Purple from Johnny's Selected Seeds

When I first sent Cherokee Purple to JSS in the early 1990s, they (and Southern Exposure, who was the first by a year) were amongst the first commercial sources of Cherokee Purple once I named, grew out and distributed it.

So we are here in 2010, and I thought it was a good time to take a look and see how the variety is being maintained by JSS. Well, the good news is just fine! Harvested a lovely 12 ounce oblate, smooth purple fruit, and the flavor was great - so I am confident that anyone getting ChP from JSS is getting the real deal, as far as we can confirm without doing genetic comparisons of the seeds!

Last year, Johnny's developed their seed stock of Cherokee Green from my seed - so, again, I thought I'd grow out their seed this year and see - and it is indeed what I hoped to see - so JSS is a good, reliable source for Cherokee Green, again - as far as I can tell from my grow out.

Thank you for the follow up as promissed Craig. I am glad to know the Cherokee Purple seeds I purchased this year from JSS will be the real deal when I grow them next year.
