Default When trenching your tomatoes ...

When using the treching method,
or even repotting your tomatoes,
is it ok if there are some are leaves
under the dirt ?

Should lower leaves be removed a week
before this happens ? To possibly prevent
infection of an "open" wound ?

Thanks, Tom

Tom,

When "trenching" it really doesn't matter.
If you burry the leaves they will just rot off... no biggie.
I actually pinch my leaves a few days before planting in order to allow a "scab" to form.
That's just me.

Tom what Don recommends is correct. IMHO It would be better to pinch the leaves off right before burying, than letting them rot in the ground. Of course pinching the leaves off a few days ahead would be better still.
