Default shipping plants

I have grown tomato plants for my sister for several years and we have always found a way to get together in April so they can be delivered. Her plant time is at least two weeks before mine. This year our schedules do not match up and there are a dozen tomato plants ready to be put in the south-central Missouri dirt.

I am considering sending them by mail, UPS or FedEx. I have mailed plants before, but the destination was only a short trip away. These would perhaps spend two or three days in the system. What would be the best way to pack and sent live plants through the mails?

Paul,

I had Fusionpower (who is a TV member) send plants from his farm in Alabama, up to Rochester, NY. I know you are not looking to purchase them - - just ship what you already have, so if you go on his website, he shows his packing method in photos. The plants he shipped to us were great!!
