Default Pepper question....pinching fruit

I have a few pepper plants, they are a bit small still but they already growing fruit. The fruit is about half the size of a thumb....the stalk of the plant seems a bit spindly... Would I be better off pinching off some flowers and fruit to have the plant focus on getting sturdier to hold the peppers in the future?
In the past I have had plants that get so loaded down that the plants breaks off, want to avoid that. We get frosts around mid October, so plenty of time still.
