old seeds
Well, having extra time on my hands due to the Wuhan Chinese flu shut down, I decided to dig through some old seeds in the freezer and see what might germinate after many years. I found some old cherry tomato seeds from 2008 and some Japanese Black Trifele seeds from the same year. Also some Neves Azorean Red, Orange Persimmon and a black salad tomato.
Planted a week ago Saturday, today i got take off from both the red cherry and the Trifele seeds. Amazing what survives 12 years in the freezer Planted around 50 seeds each and seems like I got a high % of success. |

Interesting. I have some old seeds to but they were just sitting in a drawer in vials and envelopes. I may try some of them but not yet.

A black salad tomato would be larger than a cherry tomato, but not very big, maybe 5 cm or less. It would have dark green, brown or "black" shoulders, with maroon colored bottom, and be a dark green, brown or dark maroon inside.
