Ordered some of these Utyonok seeds from Carol, and I must say, I am extremely pleased with my order.

Purchased on a late afternoon, 3 days ago, and already have my seeds - from Wi to Fl!

She also included a few sample packs of other varieties. A very nice touch!

Thanks so much Carol - I'll be ordering again! I should be starting these in a few weeks, and i'll record a few photos, for anyone interested.

I will admit you got lucky with that order. I have been busy with the farm and greenhouse so haven't had a whole lot of time or energy left for orders. Your order came in the day before I finally forced myself to get out a handful of orders. A couple of them had been here for about 2 weeks.

I try to do better than 2 weeks but it's been harder and harder these days to find the energy. It sucks getting old.

not many comments about the taste. is it mild? does it have strong assertive flavor? sweet? the pictures andrey posted do appear to be heart shaped. LOVE hearts, love sweet.

Default Utyonok

My Utyonok has the leaf curl going along with a slightly less version of it on the Agatha plant.

I've got the leaf curl thing going on too. I think of it more as leaf "cupping" and had the same distinctive leaf form last year. It has been present even in the young seedlings.

Maybe the "leaf curl" is just a way of being rugose. I see flowers on your pictures too, so wait just a moment (a couple of days) and you'll have tomatoes. Maybe by now?

For those who started seed - was there evidence of leaf curl/cupping from the beginning?

I'm starting to see new growth leafs curling/cupping at such an early stage (about 2, 2.5 weeks now).

For me, maybe not the very beginning, but fairly early. They are distinctive looking to me even by the time of first transplant if I recall correctly. In their little baby containers I can usually pick them out of a crowd.

Here is my Utyonok impostor. I'm saving seeds because I like it's looks and am hoping that it tastes good also. Same dwarf plant and leaf curl (!) just like the real Utyonok. I don't remember if I used Teds or Sherry's seeds.

Very Neat Sue. I ordered I ended up growing Sherrys. I had ordered some and I thought they were Orange Tree because they had the same curl and I thought they were the wrong seeds!

I just picked a few of these today. These 4 came from the same plant. I think the pointy one in the upper right-hand corner seems to most closely resemble Andrey's description in the first post of this thread as looking like a lemon.

Sue -- I guess I did have one that looks a little like yours!

frozengirl -- What fruit shape did you get?

I wonder why we have different fruits on a plant that is suppose to have pointy ended fruit. Yes, the 1st picture clearly shows the ruffled look. I didn't get any pointed fruit...more like flat bottoms!
