Hog patch 2006

Here are few pictures from my 2006 garden.
Its located in Solano County in Northern California. Weather has been quit a challenge this season.
Solid houses are just across the creek, this land may be ticky tacky boxes in the future. I think class 1 soil should grow food.
Have been camera-less for over a month so I borrowed a camera today, plan was to have pictures of every two weeks but you know how plans go.

Freshly planted starts at the beginning of May. Ruger you look like you need a brake.

Two weeks later they are finally starting to grow.


Fast forward to mid July.

Lots of work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Picked today. Crawled on my hands and knees for a long ways to find them. [/img]

Now that's what I call a tomato patch! Very nice indeed...wish I had that amount of land to play with
I do hope it does not fall prey to development and generic builder homes.

Are the fruit pics your already introduced varieties, or new ones?? Any taste test results yet?

Is that the Florida Weave you're using to keep them upright! Must take you a couples of days just to keep them in line. I can barely keep up with my 40 plus plants growing in pots with a bamboo stakes

They all look so healthy. Keep the pictures coming please.

Try to answer some questions.

Number of plants, over 6000 staked ones in this picture, about 70 varieties.

Keep track- well thats another story. Gets a little crazy.

Like black tomatoes? You bet. Love em and so do alot of my custumers. These happen to be the first pick, wich alot of black tomatoes happen to be early, color will be more balanced soon.

Florida weave, yes, well since I am on the west coast we have another word before weave.

Nice soil? Class 1 soil, up to 90 feet of top soil in some places laid out by glaciers. 10 feet would be considered
great.

Pickers? Hope to have money to hire next week. Will be nice.

I went out to see Brad’s farm today. What a great host and there are just an amazing number of plants out there.

Here are man and search dog picking tomatoes.

While Brad was busy picking, Ruger and I worked out a deal after he took a dip in the creek to cool off. I’ll bring his favorite bone each visit and he’ll let me pick as many tomatoes as I can….(I think I took him on that one). That is one very smart dog though..

It’s sooooo gosh darnoodley hot here (106°) and the power went out about ½ hour ago. I have backup for most things but not the AC………if you find my crispy body here pleeease save my seeds!
