Black Scorpion Tongue
I was looking around some sites for some different peppers to try this year. While doing so, I came across a pepper called Black Scorpion Tongue. Has anybody grown it yet? If so did you like it? I wondered other than what looks like a black pepper in the picture, is there any real difference between it and the Red Scorpion?

I went to a farmers market in Imokalee Florida and a guy was growing several different pepper plants in 3 gallon pots. One of the plants had small round dime-sized black peppers on it and I sampled a couple. I was totally impressed with the flavor. I of course ended up taking seeds from one and will try next fall when it cools off. He didn't have a name for any of the pepper plants he was growing and the plants didn't look great. Hopefully with more room the plant will flourish and hopefully the seeds will grow true? You are welcome to a couple seeds this year if you are interested? I still really enjoy the W.A. Red I got from you last year!

"Black Scorpion Tongue"?
Commercial pepper sellers are really bad about renaming existing varieties so buyers think they are getting something different. They especially love to treat (invariably unstable) color variations as new peppers. Go ahead and try it, but don't expect to have stumbled across the Next Great Thing. Good luck!

Really, reapers are just too hot to do anything reasonable with, except brag.
Trust me. I've been down this road. |

Carolina Reaper was like an ornamental for me. I liked ghost peppers better.
I have a lot of hot peppers this year (thanks Aerial) : red savine, jamaican mushroom, bolsa dulce, white bullet hab, foodarama scotch bonnet, naga viper, rain forest, fish pepper, billy goat, kraken scorpion, and several hot ornamentals. |

You got Krakens going? Cool. Be sure to post some pod pics, please.
Very eclectic menu of peppers. Savinas and vipers should be grown more often. I too much prefer ghosts. I make a killer strawberry bhut jam. The fresh pods have a definite taste of berries before your soft palate melts and runs over your lower teeth. |

Strawberry bhut jam. Sounds yummy. Some that not too loaded with the pepper smeared over bagel with cream cheese or even toast. I've tried several jams and jellies with peppers in, but never one with strawberry. Sounds like something to give a try for sure. |
