Progress with/without…
Hello to all TVillians!
Following pictures are about 2-3 weeks ago when I was setting up the drip irrigation system inside the greenhouse. Notice the height of the plants (40-50cm for tomato). More to follow. Catalin |

After 2-3 weeks you can see that the tomato plants are more than double the height (120cm), and already fruiting. Also notice that on the side area plants (peppers) are watered by hand.

And in the end: pictures from outside the greenhouse. You can see how small the tomato plants are. Only the corn and potatoes looks OK.
Also I have to mention that the outside tomato seedlings was bought from a local farmer and all the seedlings planted inside the greenhouse were 100% grown by me in EarthTainers using the TomatoVille forum knowhow. Best regards, Catalin. |

The soil looks darker around the tomatoes in the greenhouse.
Had you just watered, or did you spread some compost on top of it?

It was just watered 1 hour before I took the pictures.
Inside the greenhouse the soil humidity is bigger than outside, there is no wind and direct strong sun exposure. Catalin. |

Hello TVillians,
After another week I'm amazed about how fine everything goes around my plants. I already have a lot of peppers, the tomato plants are 150cm height (they grew 20-25cm in last week), they have flowers until the top of the plant and a lot of tomato already growing. Inside the greenhouse the watering system worth every penny. Also the first eggplant flowers. Outside I have good growth on corn, potato, onion, garlic, cabbage, lettuce and a lot others. The outside tomato are weak and only 50cm in height, but they have flowers too. Best regards, Catalin |

So do you have varmints (wild animals that get into the crops
and cause damage)? We have deer, rabbits, raccoons, opossums, squirrels, chipmunks, rats, gophers, moles, voles, various annoying birds, etc.

No wild animals around here, the garden is located at the exit from a small village, between a railroad with not so much traffic and a road.
We have here only a few birds. Catalin |

fences", and I wondered how that was possible. There is an unexpected problem thread running in General Discussion in which deer have figured prominently. This post has a good picture: http://www.tomatoville.com/showthrea...ect#post134839 Deer have the annoying talent of being able to jump over 2 meter high fences with ease. I left out a few, too, like skunks. When they feel threatened, skunks put out an odor that would empty an auditorium: http://www.knowledgerush.com/kr/encyclopedia/Skunk
