All,

How about the east side of the BART area, near the escalators (College Avenue near Keith, across from Cactus Taqueria)? About 11:00 a.m.?

Bruce, I've sent you my phone number, and thanks for yours.
I've set aside Ernesto and Picardy for you (how many plants of each?), and Santa Clara Canner for Betsy (how many plants?). Sorry, I don't have Diener.

Thanks,

GTG

Default Nor Cal Tomato Swap

Uh oh, I'm like a kid in a candy shop...

Here's what I'd love from Bruce and GTG. (GTG, I'll send my cell phone number to you in a PM) if you can spare 'em:

Bruce's: one of any/all of the below that you can spare
* Amana Orange
* Andrew Rahart’s Jumbo Red
* Evergreen
* Goose Creek
* Grub's Mystery Green PL
* Japanese Trifele Black
* Krasnodar Titans
* Moldovan Green
* Nyagous
* Vorlon
* Wes

GTG's: One plant of the varieties below except for SCC, of which I'd love 2); whatever on the list you can spare, I'll happily give a loving home to.

* Russian 117
* Santa Clara Canner - 2 plants if you can spare them
* Hawaiian Pineapple
* Honey
* Kalman Hungarian Pink

Thanks in advance for whichever of the ones above you're able to share with me. See you in the morning!

Bruce, if you have room to carry more, I can use up to about 15 plants.

I hope you guys have fun today! Sorry I can't make it.

Wow, I'm sorry I missed you guys. I've been so busy with work and two little kids I haven't checked in here much lately. I couldn't have made it today anyway, but glad you all were able to connect. Impressive lists, as always! Hopefully I'll be able to join you guys later in the year for a tasting.

Hi Barb,

It was a perfect day for a plant swap. Good to see Debra again and to meet Betsy and her hubby. I picked up 3 plants that I’ll have to find a spot for :wink: , and a few seed packets. Also received several donations for Angelique and Kristy in Sacramento.

See everyone at the tastings in Aug.

Default missed it

always late for the party. Sounds like the weather held out for you!

I am very guilty for starting early, and all mine have been in the ground feeling sorry for themselves since end of March. One bed out of three have a tinge of purple. The bed away from the brick walkway. I have to believe that they'll recover when the sun comes back!!

Default Woohoo! thanks to you guys (mostly Bruce) I have a garden!

I thought I was going to lack tomato plants this year but now I've got a nice full garden with lots of varieties that I've never tried before. Thanks somuch for your generosity! They look so nice planted in the garden. It really feels like spring now!

Now I just have to figure out what it is that I've planted out there. Simpsons Summer Palace? Krasnodor Titans? Cougar Red? I'll figure it out eventually, I suppose.

Default Thank you

Hi All,

Thank you for all of the wonderful tomato plant donations. I gave my grandfather the following plants:

Sweet Baby Girl
Eva Purple Ball Tomato
Stump Of The World

He was extremely happy and grateful. I am really glad that he enjoys gardening. It really keeps him active.

I kept the following tomato plants for myself:

Kosovo
Moldovan Green
Sugar Lump

Again, thank you all very much. I just got done planting them. Dang, was it ever hot today.

A very special thanks to Kristy. She met me in Roseville to deliver the plants. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Take care and happy gardening.

Cheers,

Angelique

Hi Kristy:

Here are some descriptions of the varieties you mentioned. Hope this helps. Glad to hear you and Angelique have them in the ground already, they were getting too big for those cups.

Cougar Red:

Garden City Seeds: Their description:

This is a new red tomato that has been grown and tested for cool summer temperatures with a short growing season. This meaty, medium sized fruit is good for whole tomato home processing. The flavor is a good mixture of sugar and low acid. This variety will ripen until frost. Plants of Cougar Red are vigorous and semi-determinate.

Krasnodor Titans:

Sandhill Preservation: Their description:

85 days. Indeterminate, large, red flattened globe.

Description from rareseeds.com:

This rare Russian heirloom was featured in Mother Earth News in Oct/Nov 2003. The large fruit are renowned for rich, full-bodied, old-fashioned flavor. Taste this tomato and you will see why families in Krasnodar have been saving this variety since the 1880's. Growers rave about how beautiful and productive this tomato is.

Simpson’s Summer Palace:

Default Thanks!

The plants are looking great, by the way. It looks like I've gotten some fruit set on a couple of the plants. Summer, here we come!
