I'm interested also. We are looking for a good end of summer road trip (where tomatoes are involved).

I want to go, too! When and where?

I got a response from Brad on Twitter. He said there will be another event. He said he's thinking about a different location and maybe having the event mid August. I'm sure more details will follow soon.

There is usually a tomato tasting every year in late August at Morningsun Herb Farm. DH and I usually go for about an hour, then off to the outlets and a movie in Vacaville.

Hi all -- I just dropped a note to Morningsun Herb Farm to find out if they've set a tomato day yet. Will post when I get a reply.

I'd be interested in having a weekend of tastings again -- as we did in 2006 (and as some of you did before that, even though I wasn't yet a member).

We had picked the same weekend as the Morningsun event, so it was a Saturday for NORCATT and then some of us went on Sunday to the herb farm's event in Vacaville.

In '06 the NORCATT tasting event was in Davis. The last two years, Brad has had tasting at his place, but it's not the same. I don't want to give up the Wild Boar Farms tasting, but I think we might want to have our own gathering again. Afterall, I would never have gotten to know and love "Diana's Garnet Gem" (aka NOT Burracker's) if we hadn't had our own tasting!

Although Davis is pretty far for me (I live in the San Jose area), I'd go there for the event if it were to happen. I might be able to get a spot more centrally located or closer to my home, but I'd hate to lose Diana and Angelique. Please let me know your thoughts!

Fairfield is doing some sort of local tomato event Aug 15-16... Maybe there's a convenient way for Brad, et al, to ride on their coattails date-wise. Might take some of the burden off of planning a standalone event/gathering. Just a thought.

I am more interested in meeting Brad & you folks than I am in a well planned event. Hopefully Brad will surface at some point. Wherever he plans to be is where I want to go. Having only learned about Wild Boar Farms' varieties recently, I am keen to learn more and see them in person.

Hope there's a way to make it happen. I'm getting envious of the SETTfest folks.

Hi Betsylt,

The 2005 and 2006 tomatoe tasting were quite fun. I didn't particpate in 2007 and 2008. I just started a garden at my new home. I only have one raised bed with 3 tomato plants plus 2 earthboxes. I don't know that I will participate again this year, because I probably will not have much of anything to bring.

I must say, it has been quite fun having these events at parks. It was nice to have a less formal setting.

I am definitely going to make my way over to Morningsun. Since I live in Rocklin, I usually spend the entire day in Vacaville (tomato tasting, movies, outlets and lunch w/my hubby).

This will be my first time. A few questions aside from when and where:
  • Is it a potluck?
  • If so, how do we coordinate that all courses are covered and no duplicate dishes?
  • Where is the sign-up sheet?
I was reading some ideas from MAGTAG (?) a cool one:
  • Biodegradable disposables.
I guess I'm way too excited...

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Sincerely,

Annapet
