One last word of farewell, Dear Master and Mistress.

Whenever you visit my grave,

say to yourselves with regret

but also with happiness in your hearts

at the remembrance of my long happy life with you:

"Here lies one who loved us and whom we loved."

No matter how deep my sleep I shall hear you,

and not all the power of death

can keep my spirit

from wagging a grateful tail.

Great!, I would love to go this year but will need figure out transport. I'm in Redwood Valley, Mendocino county, and always thought you must be dealing with similar growing conditions, it will be a treat for folks to check out your fields.

Paul was asking about bringing children, I would recommend it as kids need to see where food grows.

Remember that there will be no pavement anywhere close, it's either dust or mud so kids should dig it.

To add to the fun a very popular Napa Valley restraunt has offered to do some samples of some of there popular dishes at the garden.(with tomatoes).

And

A vetran winemaker will be there to sample three new releases.

The weather has been up and down. Most plants are doing well with some falling to disease and a few coming up short on setting fruit.

I was forced to plant a month later then usual this year as we had many cold nights in April so August 10th will be on the beginning edge of my harvest.

There are over 15,000 plants on about 3 acres, I even managed to get them all staked this year

Wow. This event last year was a real treat.

While tasting tomato pieces in a "static" event on a picnic bench is fun, actually walking through 10,000+ tomato plants, stopping along the way and sampling them right off the vine, then being sent home with some of the most unusual Berkeley Tie Dye and other unique striped crosses that Bradley has developed, is a most memorable day.

Brad taking us on a "guided tour" of his 10,000 plants:

...and here are just a few that I took home to dazzle the neighbors:

Yes, it may be a trek for some to attend the NORCATT 2008 event, but with what Brad has lined up, it will I am sure, be the highlight of my 2008 tomato experience.

Hi everyone!

We plan to attend -- it was such a treat last year, we've been hoping to do it again this year.

Annie, great to see you're alive and kicking. Hopefully we'll get a chance to catch up at Brad's event.

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

One week away, varieties are ripening daily with it being the latest year I have had, usually I would be picking for a couple weeks by now.

I will try to get a couple pics today for a preview, having camera problems and the new battery did not help.

I posted the event on my blog so hopefully it'll get the word out to a few more people. Brad, I told people to email you if they wanted to get the address. That way, I didn't open it up to just anyone. Here is the link to my latest post:
http://chezannies.blogspot.com/2008/...-bag.html#more

And the first one I did:
http://chezannies.blogspot.com/2008/...o-tasting.html

I'm so excited and can't wait. Is there any way we can help with anything Brad? Is anyone else bringing any tomatoes? I would love to try other people's grow outs too. Unfortunately, the only thing I can offer (as of today) is Sungold, and Japanese Trifele Black. Nothing else is even close to being ripe. I started really late this year. Also, should we bring some lunch? Potluck?

Cheers, Annie

Hi Anne,

Most of my tomatoes "peaked" about 2 weeks ago, and the plants are on the decline. Have replaced about 12 with new seedlings for the Fall harvest. I plan on bringing Druzba, Ed's Millennium, Goose Creek, and a few others that haven't over-ripened yet.

What a great event. Hot, dry and full of tomatoes.
Of course the fine wine and gourmet food helped.

I ran around like a head-less chicken and did not take any pictures so anyone want to post pictures and opinions go for it.
