I just read the full thread title. I thought your wife wanted the space.

Don't be a passive patient. Knowing why you are being treated the way you are can save your life. (3 kidney transplants, infant open heart surgery, in the family, 2 survivors)

Get well Raybo. Your speech may have been temporarily affected but thank God the humorous functions of your brain are just fine!

There is always next year. Godspeed to full recovery. And keep up the great work. Guess you won't be traveling anytime soon,

Raybo, I'm sorry you have had this happen, but am happy to hear that this may be a near miss, wake up call for you. I remember a picture you posted of yourself in what I think was a hot tub. There was also a rubber ducky in that picture. I would suggest you get lots of "rubber ducky" time

Take care of yourself. You do a lot of good things. I remember the pictures from your trip to Haiti. You need to take care of Raybo so that Raybo can take care of those things Raybo cares about the most.

Keep us posted on your progress. You should be feeling a lot of love. You're in a lot of prayers out here. My thoughts are with you and your family, and my hopes are for a speedy and complete recovery.

Thanks all,

I have read all of your messages carefully and appreciate your wisdom. Your insight is very valuable to me!

Speech is fully returning as well as face muscle control. I go out to the tomato plants and do my face exercises sticking out my tongue at them (I bet they think I am crazy). I'll Post some photos of the Earthtainers in a day or two.

Those tomato plants have been expecting this. They knew that some day you wouldn't be able to resist having just a little taste of them. They're waiting for you to lean forward and give 'em a lick!

Ray,

Glad to hear you are recovering. No Jack or brew, bummer, but you know there is more to life. You've inspired many new gardener's with your methods, far and wide. Make sure you're around to provide additional instruction from your trials.

Did they say any bad things about stuff in tomato plants
(like, avoid regular contact with plants containing tropane
alkaloids)?

You might ask your doctor about that.

Joking aside, Ray, you might want to practice smiling at your tomatoes between making faces at them.

Strange timing, and this article is not new (Oct 9), but the topic of tomatoes, lycopene, and reduced stroke risk popped up on the Vegetable Gardening podcast I listened to last night. He referred to a Wall Street Journal article.

Tomato Helps Lower Risk of a Stroke, Study Says

Now, that's a study of trends and risks, certainly doesn't make light of what you are going through, but it does validate your relationship with your tomatoes. They like you, they really like you. - Ann

kilroy,

Thanks for the article.

It is still kind of fuzzy, but during the sponge bath I think I asked OTTO out to dinner next Saturday night. Hope Dear Wife understands....

Best Wishes for a swift recovery, from the UK also, Ray. I am sure getting back into your garden will help speed that recovery- as long as you don't overdo it!
