Default Irwin Tomato Variety

I got a very interesting e-mail today asking if I had any seeds for the above named variety. The em was from the same person who sent me seeds for the variety Lincoln-Adams, And I checked and found that many here in the past have grown that one,it's an excellent variety in my opinion.

Thomas, who e-mailed me , said last he knew it was grown by a Dr. Meltzer at Penn State.

I spent a very long time today, Googling to find answers and saved the links, no definite seed sources, and will send them back to him.

Question is, has anyone here ever heard of this variety and possibly a source of seeds?

Kurt, thanks for the link, but no matter what I linked to within that link I couldn't come up with a list of seeds being sold,so nothing about Irwin seeds.

When I did my Google searching, here's what I came up with

https://www.google.com/search?q=Irwi...&bih=815&dpr=1

It seems to be known by some.

I can't think of anything more I can do to help Thomas so will get back to him and give him my link, it's about all I can do.

But I am stumped since I know there was a website for Landis seeds in PA,I remember it well and I'm one who bought seeds from him and I did send Linda Sapp now new owners,of TGS, there as well.

And that's b/c she was listing two Brandywines for many years, and neither one was a true Brandywine.I begged her to delete those but she said many who bought them loved them.

More specifically she listed Red Brandywine as being PL,when true RB is RL.

So I told her to go to the Landis Seed place and get true RED Brandywine there, since the man who owned it called Red B his signature tomato variety since he was the one who first IDED it as being from Chester CO PA and was NOT PL. Linda did that and added it in the red section, and had a note directing folks to it.

I just Googled Landis and I see no link to seeds being sold for 2018.

Carolyn, maybe check among your contacts who grow giant tomatoes?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qSZIXjuJzI shows a huge Irwin fruit at 0:54.
