Default I Just Joined The 4.00 Pound Club

My largest tomato, a Mega Marv, AKA The Mother ship just began to blush on the bottom yesterday so pick it I did.

4.00 lbs exactly.

This is not the same tomato that I listed in the other post. That one was my second largest and is still growing.

This came from 2.78 lb 2012 Mega Marv Seed sold to me by Dale at Delectation of Tomatoes.

The circumference is 23 2/8 inches.

Now it's off to get it weighed on an official state scale today.

That has got to be the prettiest giant I ever saw. Congratulations.

Congrats, Julia- glad it's official! I second Redbaron's comment about how pretty it is despite its huge size.

Thanks again guys!

I took it to a local grocery store seven blocks away from my house to have it weighed.

Here's some photo's of the official reading.

It appears that the state calibrated scale states that it's 4.01 LBS so I'm going to take that reading over my scales reading. LOL!!

So now it's official, I'm at 4.01 LBS.

That is a lovely Mega Marv Mothership. Take it to the taxidermist after you finish winning prizes and saving seeds.

That is one big beautiful tomato. How does that variety taste? My largest ever was an Omar's Lebanese this year at 34 ounces. I just don't know if I can get them much larger down here because of the heat. This was my best year ever for large tomatoes because we had a cooler spring than is normal and it lasted longer than is normal. Once the heat sets in it is hard to get one much over a pound before they start ripening. I have never intentionally tried to grow a really large tomato by pruning the plant and culling; but it is nice when one comes along.

Congrats again on a real achievement.

Congratulation on your 4 lb tomato. As others have said it's one of the nicest looking large tomatoes I've seen pictures of.
