That wish list is too short.
I'll have to add some mystery to it. The only question is do I multiply by 5...10...15...20...or 25? It looks like it will be all beefsteak type varieties, and I'll likely throw in SunGold.

If you can't decide I'd suggest just giving him an idea of what you've grown and liked in the past. If you want to grow out a specific size of tomato or will be growning in containers or a limited space, give him some parameters. Oldman. I just wanted to acknowledge your thoughtful post to my lack of guidance for the mystery mailing. I have an index card of names that other people are excited about, but that method leaves out so many less documented good choices for my climate. I am fortunate that within reason I have room to experiment, and the diversity of selections in the swap keeps me engaged even more.



When it comes time to getting seeds in the dirt, I wait till the last minute for variety selection. I rely on the NOAH climate predictions for the upcoming growing season to help me choose what to grow. A short season tomato or a Brandywine, cool wet PNW conditions or a drought, cherries that will set in heat or temps too hot for beefsteak pollination. We had it all last summer in the midwest, didn't we? So I truly appreciate anything that spills out of the envelope!!!

We did have a range of late cold, early heat, and increasingly common dry conditions this year. Some of my best producers this year were the leftovers I planted in areas I thought would be less desireable. Areas that got afternoon shade seemed to do best, so I'm reevaluating where the best spots are. And thinking about planting sunflowers on the west side of the back garden. :-)

It's still too early to start much besides rosemary and similar slow growing herbs. But planning is always an option. I'm sure whem my mmmm packet arrives I'll be changing some plans.

You send bubble mailer, a wish list, legible mailing address, and return postage (cash /stamps) inside.
