My variegated pink lemon - super neat plant. It’s got variegated striped lemons that have pink flesh. Tastes like a regular lemon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Your plants look really good. Nice setup. How much sun does your space get per day?
I really like that variegated lemon. Take a picture of the fruit when you have some...ok? |

Nice, neat looking abundant garden. What's the ground cover in the lemon pot?

Salsacharley - they get about 8 hours per day, and some dappled afternoon sun. Last year I was a little worried they didn't get enough so I limbed up the crepe myrtles and it seems to have made a difference. When we start hitting the high 90's to 100+ the shade is welcome. I pretty much stop trying to grow tomatoes in the summer, and start up again in the fall.
Nan - its a mix I did of red and crimson clover and buckwheat. I've got it in all my plants that are in bags. I found out last year by accident (with strawberries in a blueberry container) that short "green mulch" plants really help hold down moisture and also look nice. I'll till them in once they die off in the summer heat. |

How do you not have a WF thrips infestation?

Not sure about WF thrips, just googled it Western flower thrips? I've never run into them.
I'm in a no til setup and have incorporated lots of neem/karanja meal into the soil which is supposed to keep pests and disease down. So far so good, but I didn't get nailed last year until about a month from now so time will tell if it works. I also drench with kelp meal teas and aerated compost teas and spray with neem/karanja meal tea and neem/karanja oil. |

Quick update. We had a crazy cold day yesterday for the area. It was 86 on Friday. 42 Saturday morning, now we’re climbing back up, currently in the low 60s.

Spider mites are starting to show their faces.... I hate spider mites. Blasted them off with my sprayer and some water from the hose. They’re mainly attacking a mint plant but they can spread very quickly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by TexasTomat0; April 14, 2018 at 03:45 PM. |

Nice going , TT.
We had a cold snap on the 7th too. Nothing major. Some of my varietie are probably setting fruits and few more have buds and flowers. My tomatoes are avout 10 days behind yours. I also sprayed with copper fungicide 2 days ago. I will repeat in 2 weeks.

I got more damage to the leaves than I had originally thought from the cold last weekend. The temp drop this weekend doesn’t seem to bother them. I’ve got quarter sized fruits on the JD’s C Tex and the Juane Flamme. Starting to get some set on the larger varieties but had some deformed flowers on the first cluster on a few of them. Everything seems to be rolling along well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by TexasTomat0; April 15, 2018 at 02:14 PM. |
