Here's my storya bout Lucinda.

Fred,who bred it,sent me seeds,I knew that one parent was Silvery Fir Tree,which explains the foliage.

I grew it and didn't like the taste at all.

Then I got an e-mail from Fred saying he wanted to do more with it,or something like that,and asked if I had any seeds left,well I did,so I sent them to him.

That's the last I knew about Lucinda,aha,almost forgot,had also offered it in a seed offer here at Tville and also SSE listed it. I do that most of the time for varieties I don't especially like since my opinion is just my own.

Fred asked me also for seeds last year. I sent him about 250 seeds of "my" Lucinda.
may be we should ask him if the two Lucindas are the same or which one was better......

Charline,you can ask Fred if he had two Lucinda's but I doubt it,there was just the one as far as I know and he was probably looking for as many seeds as he could find,and was following your wonderful thread and saw you also had it.

Where did you get your original Lucinda seeds?As always,just curious.

And I'm now wondering that b/c you liked it and I didn't,re taste,if that might also be involved in terms of a spontaneously deleted taste gene or two,which is why he told me that he wanted to work on it more..

Finally, many will disagree on what I think tastes great and I'm sure that's the same for you since there are human genetic factors that are involved in taste.

So I planted two seeds (one on my balcony and one in someone else's garden) to see how different they turn.
Just tiny fruit for now, but they do look like they will be striped, so nothing crossed at least.
Some characteristics, in case anyone thinks it could be a common variety:
Very normal leaf, nothing unusual here (like Pink Berkley Tie Die or Azoychka or others, most common type of leaf).
Unusual flowers, very long buds, and the sepals get even longer after the fruit forms (huge really). Very pale yellow flowers, paler than any I've seen (but pale is kinda normal for gf gene it seems).
Truss is regular, fishbone style, about 10 flowers per truss. Good growth.
Fruits seem like they will be classic round.

Now I am becoming more inclined to think this is Tiverta F2. Looking at Gautier Semences site and at Saveol's site, they seem to have pretty much all the shapes and colours Gautier has bred, which are not common in hybrid world, so they could have some contract.
