Houston has Captain Bennies Oyster Bars - at least 4 locations - and Captain Toms - 2 locations.
Both variations of the same concept. Boat shaped structures and long wrap around bars serving Oysters, shrimp, Gumbo, and catfish. plus some appetizers. Great food. I've been going to Cap'n Bennies for over 30 years,

Many years ago (1968), I had a family member spend an extended period in St. Lukes Hospital in Houston. When I was in town, I would walk a tunnel from St. Lukes to Methodist hospital and then cross the street in front of Methodist to a "oyster bar" in front of the hospital. I never saw a menu. I would sit at the bar with a beer and oysters. The place was always crowded with people eating oysters.

I was in Houston a couple of years ago in the same area of town. It had changed so much, I couldn't even tell where the oyster bar used to be.

Also curious! Hopefully he's up to his armpits in tomato fruit enjoying a good harvest.

I'm also wondering where Worth ran off to? I'm finally coming back to talk about my fall garden plans and what I've done so far this year, but it makes me sad to see my old friend doesn't seem to be around anymore. That paired with Robert being banned makes me wonder what's going on around here these days?
