We are now moving to our new beautiful farmland in Lindell Beach / Columbia Valley BC. Due to the move, we are unable to take or process any seed orders from April 18 to May 10, 2017. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. The online seed catalog is taken offline for this reason. We will put it back, once we have settled and able to deal with the seed orders.

We will also have very limited means of communication until mid May.

Hope everything will go smoothly and we are back online by mid May.

Thanks for letting every one know about that.

I do have your full address where you are moving to and as you know was going to send you a few seeds, but it looks like you won't be able to get much of anything out for this summer.

Lastly, will your phone number stay the same as the one I already have?

Thanks,

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn

No, the phone number will be different. We have not got the phone, and no internet there yet. Not sure when the internet will be done, but I hope for the phone soon.

Good luck with the move, Tania! I hope it will go quickly so you can settle into your new home and gardens. Thanks for letting us know, so we don't worry about where you or the TOMATObase has disappeared to!

Whoops! You did say that in the first post! I think I just panicked because we all rely on the Tbase so much!

best wishes on your new homecoming! Moving house is such a huge challenge as I know from our move last year but it is also a very exciting time. Enjoy and don't work too hard!

Hi everybody,

I thought I'd post a little update on where we are with the farm move and the seeds.

My husband Stan is still part-time here only, as he has been working in the other location on getting our old house for sale. He will be moving here full time at the end of November, hopefully!

We manage to plant about 300+ tomato plants this summer. The soil is horrible, no organic matter at all, and so dry. And it was scorching hot here in summer.

Despite that, we have been getting a beautiful tomato harvest from the field. We yet to see how everything holds to the blight here, but so far I have not seen any disease issues in the garden, except for aphids.

So we got good seeds saved.

The issue that I am facing right now with the catalog preparation and re-opening the seed shop is that the printers are still at the old house, and I cannot print any labels. Not sure how we can get this sorted out before the time we usually put the catalog out. This is not just the printers, our new house is small and the printers need to be put into the barn, where we need to put electrical panel and wiring to make it work. So this is quite involved. And Stan is busy with moving things and building the coops/pens for our poultry for the winter, as we have snow and high winds here in winter time.

It would be very unfortunate if we are delayed with the seed sales because of the printing issues.

I will keep you posted.

On a positive note, I am so happy the tomatoes grew without any greenhouses or any other protection (no fence, and the deer did not touch them). And we got some delicious new varieties!

Stan built a beautiful tomato support system to last forever - the pics are on our FB page: https://www.facebook.com/TomatoBount...type=3&theater

My health condition has been stable for the last year. Not worse, not better, but we are managing well. The doctors verdict is no recovery is expected, and I will not be able to return to work in any capacity. Stan has retired from his software job, and we will be making it work on the land. Wish us luck!

We also got a livestock guardian puppy, a Great Pyrenee/Maremma cross, his name is Barrs. We train him to guard our chickens and ducks. So far he has been pretty good. The girl in the picture is our neighbour's daughter who had been coming here to help me out with the birds.
