Info Required - Earlier Maturing Eggplant

Hi,

Looking for earlier maturing EggPlant Varieties for the SouthWestCoast of BC, Canada 49 degrees N.

Please help! These are for a friend that lives on lower Vancouver Island(coastal climate)

I believe Diamond and Apple Green are supposed to be early maturing varieties. I think they have both at www.seedsavers.org if you're interested.

Randy,

I was searching for Morden Midget and came across a nice assortment at Sandhill ....

I've grown Diamond and its a good one (in a good year), but check out:

Early Black Egg: 63 days. Small, nearly round, deep purple fruits. Pkt. $1.50 (Limit 1 Pkt.)

Michele is right - Ukrainian variety Almaz (Diamond in English) is should be early enough for your climate, Randy!

Our Belarusian CV Patsekha is rather early as well.

Italian White, from Seeds of Change has come in earlier and been more productive than Morden Midget for me...I will be trying Diamond next year too.

Jeanne, when I look at the picture of Italian White in the SOC catalog, I always think it really looks kind of green. Does the skin on yours look truly white? Thanks.

Mine look just like the picture, they are more green than white...They are really nice though and never get bitter...I have grown applegreen and these do better and taste better for me...

The earliest I grew:white egg, morden midget, benarys blaukonigin, obsidian, de barbentane (depends on the weather) ,diamond,little fingers,early black egg and Zahara. They can give me a crop over here, just covered with fleece.This year though was too bad, I didn't get anything but washed-away eggplants,
