I use MG. I feed heavy with their azalea blend in June: higher N to promote plant growth. Bigger plants are inclined to have more flowers. After that, I use a MG blend with higher P in July to promote more and healthier flowers at 1 tsp./gal. when I have to irrigate, and then the tomato blend (with higher K) in August and September for healthier fruits. Nobody's ever complained that my Brandywines taste store bought.

Miracle-Gro also sells bloodmeal and bonemeal separately. Most of the "meals" are slow acting and must be converted into solubles the plant can uptake; I wouldn't recommend spending more money for organics for container gardening because you want the fertilizer to work during the growing season and not get flushed away or discarded.
Synthetics work quickly, some immediately. If you want organic fertilizer that you don't have to wait forever, try something like this: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Jobe-s-Or...9726/205750688 For in-ground slow release organic fertlizer, try something like this: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Kellogg-G...3000/202247320 Hope this helps. |
