The idea is that you have to protect the stems from frost/heat and fungus.
Sprouts will start when plant will feel normal temperature.
you dont need to resow, and pass the nursery stage.
quick sprouts which will be 12 to 13

I don't think that you understand our climate,it WON'T work, unless you live in a warmer climate!!

Yes , I can understand why that would work for you, it gets much much colder here where I live,it can get 25 degrees below freezing here in the winter,that's 25 Fahrenheit.no tomato will live through that unless you supply heat.

Yes, I have several that are growing well, unfortunately I'm not able to show them because they are in support slings which pretty well covers them up.I've got a nice one from the seeds you gave me.also I'm trying for the first time to grow giant cukes, peppers,and onions,my onion is a little over 24 inches in circumference, and a cuke is growing almost 3 inches in length a day.sure is enjoyable watching the progress of all the giants,the cukes are for weight and not length, same for onions and peppers and of course tomatoes. We're having 104 degree days right now ,so we'll see how they pull through.

This one was a bit of a let down, it fell short because I did not do my part with consistency. The BZ should be a bit bigger.

Nice tomato Mark and Biscuit! I've got an Aker's WV out there that is probably approaching 2 lbs, very wide diameter. It is not a megabloom, just a beautiful specimen. This plant grows big ones Biscuit, so you may want to try it next year.

By the way Biscuit- I hope you don't mind me calling you that!- but would any of your big ones be a heart variety?

No problem Darin, you can call me anything, but don't call me for dinner! That 3.06 lb. was grown indoors under lights during the winter. Darin, none of my giants are hearts. Your Akers sounds nice bit they must throw mega blossoms, a single doesn’t have a chance to make it over 8.61 lbs, so it's a no go for me,I try to remove every blossom that doesn't look like it could make at least 7 lbs. and if by the halfway mark they aren't quite up to what I think they should be, they'll be removed, I'm not interested in growing anything under 7 lbs, you kinda have to be merciless in your culling,I hate cutting off green tomatoes that are 4 or 5 pounds and throwing them in the compost pile,but that's what you gotta do.
