Default not exactly happy to have spider mites but,

It could be a fatal viral or bacterial disease. The picture is of last years volunteer that was left to grow in an onion bed. Wound up at 16 feet east-west and 12 north-south. Two cuttings survived the winter and I want to save cuttings and some seed this year.

It was a volunteer where we had tomatoes in 2013. There is a little bump or pointy tip on the bottom of the fruit but I don't remember planting any oxheart types. Those are leeks in the background.
