Dang, you got a little rain. They've been predicting it here for 3 days now but it stalled back towards your way. It should be here tonight. I need it, we haven't had rain in a while.

Watch those plants for nutrient deficiency, all that water drains the ferts away.

By the way all those little weed sprout things you see in the soil are ghost pepper sprouts.
They sprouted in some very adverse conditions on their own.

I was wondering about how all the rain affected your area. I saw a quick thing on the weather saying Austin got almost 6 inches of rain, but no details.

We got between 2 and 3 inches of rain. I haven't walked out to see the plants yet, but from the window - it doesn't look bad out there.

The bilges are pumped dry and the tubs are riding high in the water, steady as she goes.

I like those tubs. Where did you find them?

Why don,t you just drill some drain holes, a few inches up from the buttom ? This way the excess water will get out by itself ?

That I'm afraid would ruin everything including the tubs my control over the water level and other stuff.
With the drain being the same as the sight tube I can adjust the water level as I please.

The whole idea behind this project it to show that you ((can)) grow in containers without a bunch of drain holes washing out nutrients.
In the heat of the summer the plants suck up a ton of water from those tubs.

These aren't just for tomato plants and such.
I have 4 buried up to the rim in the yard with elephant ears in them.
No drain holes.
Any water loving plant can thrive in them with no drain holes like caladiums.

Happy with Big Bertha bell pepper so far and have some peppers growing on them.

All I want is big red stuffed peppers.

Some time ago I stripped the plants of all their lower leaves and some of the branches.
Cant tell I even did it now.
Getting fruit set as we speak.
One plant is a mystery tomato plant, have no idea what it is.
It came as one of those EXTRA plants in the container I bought.

Thank you.
The last few days they have exploded with growth and more tomatoes and peppers.
The ghost peppers are getting ready to put out a ton of blooms too.
I honestly had no idea how the tomatoes would do in the drainless tubs but they are doing fantastic.
Cant remember the last time I watered but I will water in a day or two.
