So possibly the fence is temporary? Or maybe after the Big Affair, they'll be amenable to cutting down in height.

Looking good!
At the first glance, I thought that was a picture of seeds on a wet papertowel waiting for germination.. the most logical assumption on a tomato site, lol! |

We have tomatoes!
Indigo Cherry Drops Blush Lucky tiger, these are pretty blurry, can't see too well with the phone My first "big" tomatoes are Rutgers, this plant has tons of flowers! Last edited by bad.kelpie; May 25, 2018 at 04:01 PM. Reason: Add captions |

I pruned the bottoms of the plants, but that's about all I'll do. We have super dry and hot summers here, so fungus issues aren't very common.
I noticed that the blush, lucky tiger and pink tiger all grow about like juliet. I grew them 2 years ago and really liked the size and shape, so when I found out that the tigers were the same, I grew them all this year. |

I stuffed about 30 plants into that space last year (there are 16 this year), and let most of them sprawl. It became a jungle, but no fungus. I barely had to water though. We do have earwigs though, so I lost a ton of fruit, whatever was touching the ground, but they wouldn't eat the Cherokee Green. I hate those things (the earwigs, not the Cherokee Green).

Everyone!
I heard a lot of good things about Mocha Splash, but no one mentioned that the tiny tomatoes are adorable. Bear creek Candy Sweet Icicle Rutgers Barry's Crazy Cherry Cherokee Green. Ok, I did something weird and couldn't read the label on these seeds, I was 99% sure I was right, but not 100. The crazy long sepals confirmed it. I was a little weirded out by them last year. Lol, that one snuck in there because I uploaded it with the tomato pictures, and just copied all of the links and pasted. I'm leaving it though, he's cute (his name is Harley) Last edited by bad.kelpie; June 4, 2018 at 10:06 PM. |

April 26th and today (our vice-versa, I don't know what order they're in). Bear creek, Mocha Splash, Rutgers, Captain Lucky and Cherokee green are leading the pack with the most big tomatoes. Bear creek looks like it will be a very prolific plant. Last year, pineapple took so long to get started that I thought I'd never get tomatoes. Then it went nuts and was probably the most prolific tomato plant I've ever seen. So who knows this early. Some of my Blush, Lucky Tigers, and Indigo Cherry Drops have full or nearly full sized tomatoes already, so maybe I'll have some ripe tomatoes before July.
