Default Got them started!

Well guys, I finally got the seeds started! I just got finished and it's after midnight!

Here is my grow list for 2007. It's not nearly as impressive as yours Jerry or actually any of you guys for that matter. This is only my 2nd year at this and I only have so much room.

Tomatoes

Aunt Gertie's Gold
Australian Heart, "Joe Thieneman's"
Bisignano No. 2
Berkeley Tie Dye
Black Cherry
Box Car Willie
Carbon
Cherry Roma
Cuostralee
Earl's Faux
Red German Strawberry
Granny Cantrell's German Red
Green Zebra
Japanese Black Trifele
Kellogg's Breakfast
Marmande
Old Yellow Candy Stripe
Opalka
Paul Robeson
Principe Borghese
Red Brandywine
Riesenstraub
Rio Grande
Striped Roman
Stupice

Peppers

Fooled You Jalapeño (hyb. sorry) All the taste but no heat, so it says.
Corno Di Toro Rosso
Golden Marconi
Red Marconi
Red Cheese

Basil, Sweet and Lettuce Leaf
Mass plantings in old plastic strawberry containers. (clam shell type)

I started extras of most of them so I will have plants for the plant swap but I won't know for a while what I will be able to bring.

I have them on a heat mat so I am hoping that will help speed things along.

Neil,

That looks like a pretty impressive list to me. Quality over quantity.

I counted 25 varieties. Plenty of good tasting ones (IMHO).

Looking forward to seeing you at the swap.

Neil,
You've got a great list there! I've grown seveal on it. I started mine a couple days ago too. A few are starting to pop up.

I'm starting some pepper seeds for some that taste like the hot ones but aren't hot. I'll bring some to the meet [only six weeks away] if they do well.

I’m a little surprised you two are just now sowing seed. I started my peppers on March 3 and my tomatoes on March 11. But then I just can’t wait to get started.

I’m in the process of potting up now. Between the peppers and the ‘maters I have about 100 transplanted with about 300 to go. WHY do I start so many??????????

Here is a list of the peppers in case anyone want me to bring some to the plant swap.

The Big Early Hybrid
Fat & Sassy
Pimiento Elite Hyb
Pimiento L
Banana Bill Hyb
Marconni Rosso
Frank's
Feherozon
Tangerine Pimento
Alma paprika
Ariane
Red Belgian
Yellow Miniature Bell
Pimento de Padron
Georgescu Chocolate
Aji Orchard
Jimmy Nardello
Black Habanero
Fish
Ancho
Sweet Cayenne
Golden Treasure Sweet
Wenk's Yellow Hots
Lipstick
Anaheim Chile

Hey Jerry!

My starting them this late has nothing to do with the season, temps etc.

To be honest with you, I just now got around to it!!

Now I don't feel so bad since I am not too far behind Earl!!

I see that you have one listed as Sweet Cayenne. Is that one of them that is not supposed to be hot? If so, do you have an extra?

I am trying the Fooled You peppers because at our house we don't like really hot stuff. A little heat is ok, but when it feels like you just poured battery acid in your mouth it takes all the enjoyment out of eating.

But that's just us.

I like to take peppers like jalapeños (when they are mild) cut them in half length ways, scrape out the seeds and membranes. I then make a stuffing out of cream cheese, cheddar cheese and some other stuff. I then spread some on each piece, wrap it in bacon and smoke it with oak and pecan for about 2 hours.

This is what the Fooled you peppers are going to be.

Neil,

I got Sweet Cayenne from TGS and am having one heck of a time getting any to germinate. So far I have two out of about 12 sown. If both make it, one is yours. I’ll keep you up to date on their growth.

Here is the description from TGS.

Amazingly long, sweet, cayenne shaped peppers grow to 1 foot long and turn crimson red when ripe. Productive plants bear loads of these crinkly, thin walled fruit that are perfect for use in stir fries or whenever a frying pepper is needed. 75 days.

Lisa

P.S. Jerry, I'd like a Jimmy Nardello, please!

Sounds like I need to get going! I've been traveling like crazy and haven't started my seeds yet.

Looks like a great list ZBQ!
