Default Seed envelopes

Where do you get them? I want the white paper resealable type. 3.25 x 4.75 or smaller. nothing bigger.

a google search turned up nothing that was exactly what I wanted. A lot of them had printing on the envelopes.

Anyone know where I can find 3.25 x 4.75 plain white resealable envelopes?

Thanks.

I like coin envelopes. For example: http://www.uline.com/BL_1580/Coin-Envelopes

Donna, so far, I've never seen resealable tops in coin envelopes, but you can use a thin strip of blue painter's tape or even masking tape to seal them instead of licking them shut.

Donna, are you looking for resealable ones b/c you want to use them to store your own saved seeds or empty into them seeds from commercial packs or packs to send seeds to others?

And I ask b'c I think there are alternatives to the above.

You've received seeds from me so you know that I use #1 coin envelopes and tape them shut, as Dee mentioned above.

I get ALL of my seed related stuff from Staples, just call in the order, excellent service, and I mean from coin envelopes to large and small business envelopes, tapes, padded mailers of several sizes, data related notebooks and more.

So I think what you want depends on what you want to do with what you want, ahem, as I noted in the first paragraph here,

Donna, FWIW, I use coin envelopes, taped if for others, fastened with paper clip if for me.

Paper clip allows easy repeated access for me, none of my seeds have escaped without permission, paper is better for surrounding seeds than plastic, in my view, and coin envelopes are easy to write information on and are sturdier than most white mailing envelopes.

I do keep all my small or small-quantity seeds, whether in commercial packs or coin envelopes, standing upright in boxes, sorted by category and variety, paper clipped at the top. Paper clips might not work as well if envelopes were in a place where they could slide around . . . but almost any kind of resealable envelope might come open in those circumstances, I suspect.

To make coin envelopes resealable I lick only a corner of the envelope. That allows me to open them and reseal about 5 times before all the sticky is used up.

Or I use a bit of rubber cement on the seal which makes them resealable for some time. Eventually it needs to be refreshed.

I like receiving them sealed with painter's tape because it does not get attached so strongly to the envelope as some other tapes.

I'm not sure I understand why you want to do this, but if you can find envelopes that you like, plain or gummed, you can use Scotch Restickable Glue Stick to seal them:

Its like the adhesive on Post-It notes.

Brilliant Douglas! Thanks for sharing.

I often want to re-seal an envelope. I take out some seeds to sow and seal it back up again for next time!

I've just switched from using old envelopes and masking tape to splurging on those expensive fancy coin envelopes. I store my seed packets in tins that we've had forever that once came with bottles of whiskey and the coin envelopes are the right size for my tins.

I just bought more of the little plastic zip-loc bags. Wal-Mart keeps them in the arts and crafts section with the beads.

I make my own from post it pads. Fold once up to the sticky part, glue the sides with one of those blue glue pens, and close the sticky part over. It is resealable, takes a few seconds to make, use any size/color post it pad you like.

Great idea, Douglas. THAT solved my problem. I don't want to use a zip bag, b/c I have arthritis in my hand - too difficult. I wanted resealable paper envelopes.

Wait - is the glue resealable?
