You're gonna love it. Large, very pretty beefsteaks. Most folk seem to agree it's tasty. Maybe not everyone's favorite, but it's an all-around good tomato. Has tolerance to some diseases, mostly trouble-free. Good performer, good production.

Big Beef is the only variety that I grow every year. It is productive, disease resistant, flavorable. It doesn't get better than this.

I use big beef as a rootstock. I still have loads of F1 seed from some random person.

I grow Big Beef every year so that I am sure to have plenty of tomatoes to make sauce. It is a good producer and very dependable. Since it is a hybrid it is more disease resistant than my heirlooms that I grow for fresh eating.

I don't think that you will be disappointed.

Yep...what they said!! Big Beef is always my most reliable producer. Makes early...makes lots of tomatoes, and many BIG tomatoes! If I could only grow one variety, it would be Big Beef!!

Good sized plant, nice production, and excellent balance of acid and tomato flavor. We grow it every year.

My first year growing Big Beef, and reading all the positive posts here, I'm glad I added Big Beef.
I'm also growing Beefmaster.

It is one of the varieties which the 'veterans' of Tomatoville have recommended for years, so I tried it last year. Sure, it was strong and productive. A nice tasting red tomato for my Mom, who likes red ones

Default Big Beef

Only similar hybrid that competes with BB here is Old Fashioned Goliath. Neighbor has about 200 every yr for tailgate business. Maybe a tad smaller but not much.

I think I like that one even more than BB (as far as taste goes, not sure about productivity or disease resistance). I think its a Rutgers tomato?

I have one space in my garden that my neighbor's overhead sprinkler hits about every day. To be safe, I only grow Big Beef in that space.

It's ok. Has the tendency to overproduce compared to the leaf area, which will affect the taste often.

Default Big Beef

I usually have 2 dozen grown from seed. I sucker to 2-3 stems and limit trusses to 3 fruit where they often set 4-5. I wind up with avg 10-12 oz tomatoes. BB out produces any other tomato that I have grown. Orange Slice is almost as good and on avg a little bigger, less tasty maybe but very meaty. Big Beef is the real deal but not numero uno for taste although very good.
