Eight celery plants were placed in the outdoor garden at 12 inch spacing in the row. The plants were purchased in two flats of four plants, and placed in separate containers for two weeks to establish strong roots. Two weeks is about right. Longer the plants become root bound. The plants were watered from the bottom by placing in a large container with water utilizing the sponge effect or osmosis. Celery produces well in my garden. I pick the large stems and harvest all through the season.
