how to make IRL garden friends?
silly me lives in the burbs. works in the boonies. I see several big gardens on my drives (furthest account is about 1.5 hrs out in the country, in a one-light town)
I was thinking about writing down the addresses of houses with big gardens, mailing a lil introduction letter, maybe a packet of saved seeds, and of course the web address here. I know Im funny about folks coming to the door, and Im usually driving home around dinner time so I dont want to annoy anyone by knocking....? Thoughts? similar stories? suggestions? |

Run an ad and start a community gardening club. Or a Nashville area Heirloom Tomato Growers Society. I would join that! You can be the Queen Bee of the heirloom tomato growers in middle Tennessee!

If you see anyone out in the garden, by all means stop and tell them how much you enjoy seeing their garden when you pass by. Most gardeners are delighted to talk gardening with a stranger and show off their work. I've had a number of people spontaneously stop by and ask to see my yard. I'm always pleased.
