Nor Cal tomato swap
Hello all,
Would it be possible for us northerners to hold a plant swap, perhaps in mid-April? I'm just getting some seeds started (this weekend) and might even submit a list of those I have in mind. P.S. Logistics to follow (space rental, refreshments, even a bit of music?). Your thoughts? Thanks. GTG |

It think it was discussed in the 'So is this event going to happen again' thread with Davis as a possibility. If there are enough that are interested in Sacratomato then that would be great. If not and you want something somewhere in the Bay Area that could work too.
I'd vote for a park where we could meet for free. The park in Sacramento we used last year or the one in Davis. Depends on the response. I've planted and should have extras of: Amana Orange Andrew Rahart’s Jumbo Red Black From Tula Brandy Boy Brianna Bucks County Hybrid Cougar Red Evergreen Feraltomatoes’ Black Heart Germaid Red Gogosha Goose Creek Grandfather Ashlock Grub’s Mystery Green PL Japanese Trifele Black Jasper Kosovo Krasnodor Titans Moldovan Green Nyagous Odoriko Simpsons Summer Palace Southern Night Stump of the World Sungold Tangerine Vorlon Wes Updated list Apr 5, 2005 based on what germinated. |

this sounds like it would be fun, unfortunately, I have not been able to start seeds yet...so, if timing and schedule allow, I would be in.

I'm in
I'm with Landarc... seeds still in packets. My mother in law's extended visit is to blame. I think mid april would be fine for me. I don't think we would need to bother with a site rental or anything -- just meeting at a park in Davis would work for me. I'd have tiny plants in early April if that would work better for people that started seeds on time.
Chilhuacle, I'd be interested in an extra Earl's Faux or Stump of the World if you have any. - Kristy |

Everything's up except Coyote, Goose Creek, Nepal & Sekai Ichi. It's only been a week though so I still expect those to come up too (well, except Sekai Ichi).
Kristy, Earl's and Stump, I'll save you the biggest and best. |

Tomato Plant Swap
Hi Everyone,
I would love to participate. I am in West Sacramento so anywhere in Yolo or Sacramento is great with me. I have lots of seedlings which I planted in January ready to go to some happy homes. Some of the varieties I have ready to plant in peat pellets are: Momotaro Carolina Gold Hybrid Golden Milano (yellow roma) Qualit 21 hybrid Druzba Marianna Hybrid (commercial roma) Sun King Terrific Hybrid I also will be planting more varieties of tomatoes, basil, and peppers this weekend alongside the varieties I planted last week. Okay, things are finally getting planted here...
I'm seeding (in no particular order):
Sweet Baby Girl Caspian Pink Matina Bulgarian Triumph Sungold Aunt Ruby's German Green Marianna's Peace Kellogg's Breakfast Noire de Crimee Aunt Gertie's Gold Lucky Cross Little Lucky Yellow Brandywine Brandywine OTV Carmello Big Beef Break O'Day Regina's Yellow Cherokee Green Gogosha Olena Ukrainian Amish Paste Black Cherry Snow White Flamme Paul Robeson Pineapple Green Zebra Cherokee Purple Neves Azorean Red Golden Queen (USDA) Red Brandywine Wisc 55 Isis Candy Green Grape Anna Russian I'm not planting big numbers of any single variety(I don't want to sell seedlings this year... that was fun but would be difficult with a crawling baby getting into stuff). I planted enough for my garden, my dad's garden, and a couple of friends who have grown to rely on my seedlings, plus at least one backup of every variety. If anyone is interested in a particular variety I'll do my best to set it aside for you. -kristy |

It looks like we have Tomatovillians in Sacramento and the Bay Area that are interested. Perhaps the same park towards the middle of April? We could just use a vacant table or have a tailgate party in the parking lot for the swap. Then a plant sale afterwards, for all the plants we don’t want to drive back home. 8)
If we plan it after the tax crunch that would the 22nd or 23rd. Let’s pick a date when everyone can make it. That weekend works for me. |

[We will have to decide on logistics for park rental as for the August tasting, please let me know how I can help.] Good citizens of NORCATT, what say ye? GTG |

I'm still potting up my plants (most have at least two true leaves by now) so the plants will be manageable size for transport and the root systems will have time to recover. So what I'll be bringing to the April 22-23 event will be relatively small plants, I hope that's OK.

I'm in the same place as GTG; small seedlings...
I'm in the Santa Clara Valley, so I don't know where y'all have your gathering(s), but I'm interested in both the plant swap and the tasting. Please keep me updated. betsylt betsylt@gmail.com |

Help! It feels like I've fallen into a black hole here. Is there going to be a tomato swap this weekend? Is anyone still out there?
GTG, did you get any response from your post? betsylt |
