I have limited space under my grow lights and on the windowsills, but I need to grow quite a number of tomato seedlings each year (about 40), plus peppers and eggplants, so I had to find the containers which fit large volume of growing media, but take little horizontal space.
My solution is – Tim Horton’s extra-large paper coffee cups. They are tall and narrow, probably taking less horizontal space than biggest Solo cups, but their volume is 24 oz (700 ml)! I collect them during the year when I drink my coffee at work, so I have enough cups by the planting time. Plus, I regard it as my paper cup recycling opportunity. I just make a hole at the bottom of each cup for drainage, these cups hold very well for several months (don’t disintegrate or anything)
The tomato and pepper roots grow deep in these cups and the plants are very robust when I transplant them. And thanks to their narrow nature, I can fit lots of these cups under the lights and on the windowsill.
Here is an extra-large TH cup:

and here is one of my Shishi*o pepper in TH cup just before planting in the soil:

Here is New Big Dwarf in it's Ziploc sandwich bag just as happy as a clam.
You can even see the huge roots growing.

Cool idea "Green Go" to recycle extra large Timmies cups!!! How very Cdn of you .

I kinda like the Tx sandwich bag idea too Worth. Being able to see the roots would be very helpful to know when to pot up.

I just hope the bag doesn't split open.
There used to be a place (Store) where I was born that had a big Honey Bee hive in it.
It was all behind glass and you could see the bees working inside.
It was adjoining an outer wall and the bees came in and out of a pipe.
Coolest thing I ever saw, better than an ant farm.
