Hi Marlynn - I know others may disagree with me - but I can't tell the difference between Brandywine Sudduth and Brandy Boy! My wife says she thinks Brandywine Sudduth taste a little better than Brandy Boy though. You'll just have to taste both and see what you think. This year we grew both side by side and are doing the taste test many times. Both are keepers but we grow many more Brandy Boys because they are so prolific and still have that Brandywine Taste!

I'd say very similar. To the average person yet. To a tomato grower you may notice a little different...depends on your desired taste on better or not.

Congratulations, Hudson.
Brandy Boys love your greenhouse and of course you know how to care for them

I love Brandy Boy's tomato shape. It is different from round tomatoes that we see around a lot.
And of course they are juicy and tasty.

Hudson... how big does this plant get? Huge? or does it top out like big beef? I have some, just not sure 100% that I was going to plant it, I grew them to sell not necessarily for me to plant, but it is a beautiful tomato. You have it growing in cattle panels? can it be pruned to single string in a greenhouse do you think? I don't have to put it in a greenhouse, but I am emptying mine out and am just thinking I need to put something in there and not waste the space for the Summer... I may go with mums and not vegetables though.

Hi clkeiper - Brandy Boy is an aggressive growing plant. My GH is 16' at the ridge - I placed cattle panel between the rafters (above the cattle panel you see - I have removed them) to see how high it would grow - it grew all the way to the top 16' - but the frost froze the tomatoes and the plants before they were harvested and I had to get a ladder to harvest before the frost hit. Now I just cut them off when they get about 10-12' high.

I'm sure you could single stem and string them. This photo is of Better Boy and I do the same thing with Brandy Boy but I don't have a photo of Brandy Boy. I prune them to 2 stems then let them branch to 4 and then to 8 stems as they grow up the cattle panel. Then I cut the leaves off below. This year I am going to start a second crop at this stage and pull the first crop as the second crop grows to the height of the cattle panel.

interesting, and thanks for the reply. I need to get a few twine thingy's for the high tunnels and then I might put a couple of those in jus tto see what they do. That is a very big plant, but if I have a couple strung up maybe I can manage a few of them.

Barb - Thanks for your comments! OK - the water jugs were a waste of time - if I don't try ideas then I never know the results - right? I had the notion that they would help keep the GH warmer at night. Obviously it would take 100's more to make any difference. It was a dump idea for the number of jugs and they were there for only a week - but they are in the photo - haha

clkeiper - I think AKmark has strung up Brandy Boy in his high tunnel with success - you may do a search to see if you can find any info - I think you will have success!

Well, now I guess I'll have to try it next year. Almost think I started the seed once, but can't recall having the plant.
