First tomato in time for Christmas! IPB is the winner followed by a bunch of Kotlas about to ripen up. OUTSIDE IN TASSIE And while we are bragging - check out the peas that we'll pick tomorrow and the spuds getting ready for Christmas day.

Blimey the peas look good!
The ripe IPB looks as if it was waxed and polished! Well done! This is quite an achievement! Enjoy!

We just had 12 hours of heavy rain and the peas are popping. It's rain ( you know - that wet stuff) that makes them look shiny.

It's a rare Tasmanian phenomenon. Goes with thunder and lightening - Dog thinks there's a big dog in the sky growling at him and has been living under the table for 24 hours.

I'm currently germinating a few "smaller" varieties that I will use to boost my seed holdings for next season. As the crop in the hothouse moves out, these will replace them and will grow during Autumn, which is usually mild. With the remainder of December through until the end of March I should do O.K. with these late comers.
Spatz - We've just had a thunderstorm putting 11mm in the gauge. |

Yum - looks like you'll have plenty toms for Christmas. Can I put my hand up for some seeds of this one please? The more early fruiting varieties I can get the happier the locals will be.
Still drizzling, apparently it will clear tomorrow and rain again on Friday. The plants are growing like steam strains! McSee, did you get hit with that torrential cloudburst in East Melbourne last night?

Cosmic - We only caught the lower edge of the less severe part of that storm. The radar had yellow and red areas covering over 100 sq Km, but it moved past us slightly to our East.

Mantis, this is a beauty! Keep the pictures coming!
11ml and 32ml - you two must be happy! Enjoy the rain and its benefits. Still no rain here. Mcsee, what smaller varieties are you germinating right now? I am slowly starting to contemplate growing a few smaller varieties. Just so that I can get some into pots a bit earlier in the season.

We ended up with 18mm as copped a second thunderstorm in the afternoon which gave us another 7mm.
Spatz - Currently germinating 'Polar Star' a cold weather variety from Alaska, plus 'Red Robin' I got from TGS with pathetic germination, 'Rio Fuego Nana' plus I'm playing around with a Romanian variety (Indet). Plus a few late Peppers. Last edited by mcsee; December 3, 2007 at 07:23 PM. Reason: Omitted a variety |
