I see a fertilizer injector Ray, do use that all season long? If so what are you putting in it?

This year I will be using it to inject AgroThrive liquid fertilizer that "RayR" has recommended.

Ray, could you tell us more about this product or point me to the thread that discusses it? I am very happy with Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro would love an organic option. TTF (not organic) doesn't work with my EZ-Flo injector as it settles.

elight,

RayR has another Thread regarding the composition / benefits of AgroThrive, I am just following his recommendation.

Hi Raybo!

Your garden looks great as usual . I was going to hold off for a few days due to somewhat iffy cold nighttime temps , but you inspired me to do my dwarf plant out yesterday. Our temps are so similar this time of year and I figure you know what you're doing so it would be wise to just follow your lead . (BTW, I discovered today that our latitudes are nearly identical - 37.283 for Merced and 37.287 for Campbell).

I was checking out various weather websites this morning and see that on the NOAA site we're almost identical for the nighttime lows of 43 and 44. Are you planning to add any extra overnight cold protection to your bins? I think the plants are OK at his temp but I'm just a bit unsure .

Nice to see you growing Dona again . What differences have you noticed between Momotaro and Momotaro Fight?

Anyway, good luck with the garden this year!

Hi Anne,

Dona is a "must grow every year" for me. My F1 hybrid seeds came directly from Vilmorin in France and as I have only a few F1 seeds left, I am trialing F2 and F3 to try and select a good derivative to use when I run out of F1 seeds - same thing with my Carmello seeds from Vilmorin.

This is the first time I am growing Momotaro and Momotaro Fight together so I'll be able to compare and answer your question later in the Season.

As we are just a few miles from San Francisco Bay, I am hoping our night temps will be somewhat moderated.

Another Fun Year!!

Raybo

Now on to the Peppers and Cucumbers, and I will be finished for 2021.

Hi Raybo, love your garden. Just wondering about Momotaro - are you growing the OP version? I’ve really come to love this variety. Will love to see what Momotaro Fight is! Happy Gardening!

Hi Sharon,

The Momotaro are genuine F-1 seed (from Kitazawa Seed Company here in Oakland). A nice TV Member from Torrance, CA. sent me the Momotaro "Fight" seeds from Takii Seeds a few years ago.

They are supposed to be more disease tolerant.

FYI - Vilmorin does sell Dona F1 online and apparently will ship to the US. The seed package is €7.15 and shipping is €20 - though the shipping covers many packets of seeds so perhaps it would be good to get a few buyers in on the act!!
As for Carmello F1 - it is not listed. Is it different from the many options for Carmello F1 available in the US (same question for Momotaro - I got some of those from Seeds n Such)

I have spent about an hour searching for the Vilmorin Retail Store where one can order online - but without success. I would appreciate it very much if you would post a link you reference to their online portal. I have children who live in the Netherlands who might be able to purchase several packs in the EU, then send them to me.

EDIT: The only Website I found to order Vilmorin Dona F1 is called "Multitanks".

https://www.multitanks.com/en/command

Thank you for your help,

Raybo

Momotaro is an excellent and delicious tomato. I grew it one year but was not pleased with the results. I am happy to find it at a farmers' market.
