Karen,
How's your Altai Orange doing? I planted it the last 2 years and got different plants this year. This years is short, has wispy leaves/stems and has round fruit except the latest fruit which is more of an elongated heart. I gave seeds to Sherry and she got a much taller plant with the wispy leaves but her fruit looks to be more beefsteak shape. The fruit is small so hard to tell if it will stay the same shape. I thought I had a stray seed but since we both have the wispy genes, I don't know what to think. I used purchased seeds both years. |

Karen -- Thanks for posting the photos of Altai Orange. I'm having the same experience here in my greenhouse. My plant has two or three small fruits now. I think this one is going to be too late for me also. Oh well.

Karen, are the young plants in the red cups (last picture) ones that you are trying to push forward next F gens on? When would you estimate you might get first fruits on them?
Your plants and gardens look so healthy and lush, as always! I grew Altai Orange as Altaiskiy Oranzhevyi, seeds from Tania, and it was a very productive and large orange. The first tomato was early, but very scarred and pitted skin, horrible taste. Later ones were all post midseason, and taste and form was good. I was hoping it would be an early, but wasn't for me. I think I still have the original seeds, if any of you want to try the large ones.
