Default The lone survivor

last night it got cold enough to kill several tomato seedlings about three inches tall i forgot to bring in. all were dead slumped over like diesel had been poured on them. they are all unknown heirlooms i've pretty much neglected to separate out the tough ones. there was one lone survivor in that flat of seedlings and my question is is it worth saving the seed from this one in the hopes of finding more cold tolerant seedlings in years to come?

If I were you, I'd keep it and grow it out, and yes, save seed unless it's a terrible tomato that you hate for some reason, and try it again another year to see if that cold tolerance is a genetic effect or maybe some micro-environmental cause that saved the one seedling.

It would be nice to know what variety it is - if you grow it out maybe it can be recognized.

it could be a couple of distinguishable ones, there are only about four or five that it could be. i was also thinking of an environmental cause as well, maybe everything lined up just right for that one. time will tell i guess i brought it inside and put it in my seedling starter
