Home Depot usually carries German Queen plants that are pretty far along- pricey at 3.99, but beautiful potato-leafed plants. I grew them 2 years ago and they did well. D. |

It's extremely meaty in an interesting way. Slicing it is kind of like slicing a good ham. The stem isn't indented far into the fruit (so you can get a normal number of slices). Taste was quite good. It's potato leaf. The plants were among my largest in 2015. It was probably my latest tomato that got mature fruit in 2015. The fruits were quite large (beefsteak-shaped), but light for their size. Very pink. I didn't have any problems with catfacing, splitting, cracking, blossom scars or such. Firm, but not crunchy (they're firm more like a ham is firm). Some of the fruits got some kind of rot disease (similar to, if not, anthracnose) at the end of the season when it got cold and rainy (but so did Green Giant and maybe others). Anthracnose is somewhat of a problem in our area, probably due to all the apple trees and spider mites (fallen fruits rot, and I imagine anthracnose can spread from them, especially if the spider mites feed on the fallen apples and migrate to other crops). I had to do a search on myself to find this thread
This is basically a bump. I'm doing tomato inventory today and what to plant where ...etc. Ow my head - the list is so long. |

I am lucky!
I just have an area of about 600 sq-ft of grass converted into garden. So It is easy for me to plant and plant "What" "where". ~ 70% dedicated to tomatoes and 30% peppers & eggplants. My cole crops have already invaded parts of it. But I still have enough room left for my tomatoes , peppers and eggplants. All I need now is a nice weather to get back to work. Two more cold nights. ARGGGG !

our 48' x 48' 2,304 sq ft garden is too small, so we built 6 raised beds for somewhere around another 500 sq ft. and now we're planting out in the woods behind our house.
It all started with my wife saying, "Honey, I would like a compost bin and a small garden." |

Yes, and she also most likely meant a flower garden with two pots of herbs.

Thank you both
I think she and I feed off of each other's ideas. She is all, "Build a garden", and I am, hmm we have fencing, cut stone, wood to decorate with, and we can grow stuff in the woods, and.. Oh, that's what you two just wrote. |
