After a beautiful, warm and sunny weekend, we are now back to freezing cold temperatures with blowing snow. A good day to post a few pictures from a few years back. Photobucket will not let me upload recent pictures.. Here are Alpine/Nubian Triplett's born on the farm a few years back..

Very nice to see your new posts, Ginny. I also want to tell you that the Rouge D' Alger Cardoon you sent me just started to germinate, that's one month after sowing! I did not think it would happen after a 3 weeks of no shows.

Limei, I am so happy the Rouge D' Alger Cardoon finally germinated for you! That is great news! I had two plants of RDAC planted in my garden last summer, and I had two more in big pot's. They were large, beautiful plants. Mine did not flower, but the spiny stalks were sure pretty. I did not cut the stalks to eat, but, rather left them to see if it will come back this season. I covered the ones in the garden with a thick mulch of straw. The ones in the pots I moved to the GH for the winter. We shall see how they faired in a few months. Good luck with your garden this year.

I will send you a pm about some tomato seeds I would like to share with you if you are interested in growing the variety.

Very cool. That pic brought me back to my childhood around the stables as my father trained young thoroughbreds for the track. The bucks or billys depending on how you refer to them, would chase my brother and I around the stables. A lot of fun until you got cornered, and they were surprisingly fast which as a young kid we would take for granted as they do not look the part. Especially compared to the mountains of stud horses surrounding us.

My MIL told me story about taking care of a goat as a young child. She was petrified, as a goat was always chasing her. But she had to do what she was told to. She was scared of that goat. She was about 5.
The two kids look so cute.

We always had a Billy Goat around to keep the weeds down in certain lots.
They like to play and butt you.
If you aren't careful they can break your back.
form the time I was old enough to walk I knew better than to turn my back on a playful billy goat for very long.
One time I had to feed a ranchers livestock out in west Texas while he went on vacation.
While I was doing this I came back and there were two goats and some chickens standing on my Harley.

If you are in a convertible they will get on top and fall through the roof of it.

Seen that happen too.

Oh one more.
One time I was out in west Texas and the wind was howling.
They have wild goats out there.
There was what looked like a dead goat hunkered down in some rocks with a huge set of horns.
I wasn't going to let the horns go to waste so I straddled the dead goat to cut its head off.
This was on the side if a steep cliff type place.
The goat got up between my legs and carried me for a bit before I could get off.
Scared the devil out of both of us of course the goat lived.

Hey, me personally, I am afraid of geese. My grandma neighbors had them. They are aggressive beasts. Haha....

Ella I added another goat story while you were posting.
I did see a little girl at the park awhile back try to feed mother goose.
It was taller than she was.
The thing bit her right in the chest and she started crying.
The child will never like geese again.

I was never bitten, BUT I am afraid...

btw in my culture there are children stories about geese kidnapping children.

They are all hiss most of the time once they get to know you and trust you they are the best pet you ever had and will come running like a dog when you come home from work making a huge racket.
